    Supportive, thought provoking
    This is one of those books that, the more you put in, the more you will get out. The prompts are thought provoking, compassionate, and grounding. It’s written in a way that I feel like the author is right there, walking me through my thoughts and feelings, gently encouraging me along my journey. Great first book — I would love to see more!

    My favorite Journal
    I love this journal. When I feel like I want to journal with a purpose and for some inner self, emotional mindfulness, I write in my journal using these prompts. I am a Social Worker, substance abuse counselor and I use this with my clients. Great journal, the prompts can be recycled as emotional healing is an ongoing process. Highly recommend this journal for strengthening your mental health

    Great guided journal! -Thoughtfully, therapeutically done.
    This is a fantastic guided journal. As a mental health professional myself, I am always looking for additional tools to recommend to my clients for continued work between sessions. This is definitely one that I will add to my list!The journal itself is beautiful without being overbearing in style, allowing the user to make it their own. There is ample space to be creative and draw, doodle, and color along with spaces to write. The pages are thick enough to handle lots of different times of art media.The prompts are well thought out and insightful. They do a good job of explaining without being overly wordy. They are meet the reader where they are at.The introduction is lovely. It’s a therapeutic goldmine of explaining mental health holistically, but not too long that people won’t read it. My only criticism is that it mentions “bad” feelings which as a therapist I practice from a state that feelings are information, and try to help my clients NOT place judgement on their feelings.The quotes are well thought out and serve to help unlock the mind without swaying the reader in a certain direction.I love this journal and will use it in my own self care as well as recommending it to others.** I was provided a free copy and asked to provide a review. All thoughts are my own, and frankly I would have purchased it on my own regardless.

    It is thicker than I thought; doesn’t fit in my purse! But I use it all the time at home.
    I enjoy doodling and journaling. This book is nicely decorated, and the content is imaginative.I wish it were less expensive. I would buy more of them for gifts.

    Great guide for self-exploration!
    The Balanced Mind is a comprehensive journal that encourages its user to reflect on past experiences and consider the future all while focusing on the present. The thoughtful prompts delve into recognizing and regulating emotions, practicing mindfulness, benefiting emotionally from physical movement, and building healthy relationships. The activities are well-balanced between traditional written word journaling, art and creative expression, and more active exercises.Having a lot of traditional talk therapy experiences I enjoyed challenging myself with the more creative prompts and appreciated the reminders that I didn’t need to be an artist to express myself creatively and benefit from the process. The lists included at the end of the book to help identify feelings, self-care ideas, and strengths were very useful.As someone who has been on both sides of therapy I can definitely see the value this journal offers and I think anyone interested in self-exploration through journaling can benefit from it, no matter what point they are at on their mental health journey.

    Amazing jornal to guide you through self-reflection
    Thank you to Rockridge Press / Callisto Publishing for sending a copy of this book to me. I wrote this review by choice and honestly.The Balanced Mind is a journal to help guide you through a journey of discovery of your mental health. I like the layout and simplicity of this book. There are pages with relevant quotes tucked in between journal entry prompts. Each prompt is clearly explained, and you’re given space to write and/or draw your answers, as you are given writing prompts and creative prompts and self-assessments. In the “How to Use this Journal” it advises that you go through the journal in order, as it is created to build on previous topics.I think this journal has the ability to help you set aside time each day to focus on yourself and consider things you may not have thought about on your own. Learning how to manage your mental health is a very important part of your overall health and this journal addresses issues many of us attempt to cope with every day.I recommend this journal to anyone looking to do some self-reflection, who wants to improve self-care, learn how to cope, become aware of their true thoughts and feelings, and for those wanting to make changes. However, as the author states, if you are someone who is suffering from severe depression, anxiety, or trying to cope with trauma, this journal is not a replacement for therapy.
