What I was looking for.
This is what ginger oil should smell like. Thank you.
Pam Stiegman –
very powerful
I don’t always have fresh ginger handy, and I find the powdered ginger to be on the weak side. Just a few drops of this provides a nice kick. You need very little of it.

Does what it said it would do
NOW Foods consistently delivers great products and their Ginger Oil is an ongoing example of the top quality they deliver. The Ginger Oil has a robust and savory smell as it should considering it is highly concentrated (100% pure). That being said, anyone who uses the product needs to keep in mind that a pure concentrate needs to be diluted before use otherwise you may end up with some not so friendly and/or overpowering results. Now, I am fairly new to the world or aromatherapy and as such I have not used the Ginger Oil extensively or in more complex recipes. I have used a few dozen various oils in baths, foot baths, skin applications, hair oils, massage oils, and plain old room fragrances and I used the Ginger Oil much in the same fashion. A aromatherapy friend/mentor of mine had told me about the benefits of Ginger Oil and how it can be used to reduce nausea, flu-like symptoms, indigestion, and can even be used to reduce anxiety in some cases so I decided to try the Ginger Oil. My first use was diluting the Ginger in almond oil and spreading the application on my fiance’s stomach during one of her common bouts with indigestion. My fiance, who is not “sold” on the benefits aromatherapy, said that she did feel a little better after applying the application however she couldn’t tell if it was due to the oil or the elapsed time and the body naturally handling its own business. So, not being able to truly tell if the Ginger Oil was as beneficial as it had been suggested to me, I used the product in a few different hair oils strictly for the scent and I yielded what I thought to be great results. After that I was able to make a massage oil (using the Ginger Oil) for a few friends of mine and they all told me that they felt the calming and stabilizing effects of the Ginger. However, I was finally able to use the oil myself when I came down with a nasty flu and I was delightfully surprised at how helpful the oil proved to be. The first couple days of the flu left me with aches and pains in my back and legs and I took several hot baths with a few drops of the Ginger Oil added to them. The baths felt great and I felt what I believed to be the Ginger Oil help soothe away the aches and pains quicker than usual. Then, as my flu hit the high point on day 3 and left my stomach in a pile of knots I diluted the Ginger Oil into a skin oil and rubbed the mixture on my stomach. Again, I felt what I believed to be the Ginger Oil working some magic and relinquishing my stomach from the pains and allowing me to actually eat and drink without the nausea and vomiting. So, after finally being able to test the Ginger Oil myself I believe that it is a great product and its uses and results are spot on. I would definitely recommend the NOW Foods Ginger Oil to anyone who dabbles in aromatherapy and I would only recommend the NOW Foods brand because as I said at the beginning, they are simply a top of the line manufacturer.

a nice grade ginger essential oil
I purchased this for my collection 4 years ago in November 2012. I went with the NOW brand because it was a trusted brand in our household WAY before the big boom of online shopping.I have been using essential oils since before they were more mainstream. Probably a couple decades now. I use them therapeutically and not just because they “smell good”.THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! I read so many reviews about how someone thinks an essential oil does not smell good. One …. essential oils are NOT fragrance oils. It is the essences and properties in the oils that make them work therapeutically. Aromatherapy is MUCH more then “wow this smells good (or does not smell good) in my diffuser. Oils evoke moods, they help you sleep, they make you happy, but that is their core properties. Kinda like many evergreen essential oils are GREAT for respiratory illnesses. To me … in the bottle they are strong … diffused they smell much better, but not much. Blended and rubbed on your chest they are amazing. ALSO … some sleep oil blends to me, smell just so-so. But guess what? Those are the ones that REALLY help me sleep and produce some very cool dreams. I wish people would do some research and really educate themselves on essential oils before purchasing them and reviewing them. Essential oils have become so mainstream these days that people really do not understand the full ramifications of what they are using and how they actually work.I have major brand name essential oils in my collection and off brands. I have purchased and reviewed some downright vile essential oils here on Amazon and am not afraid to leave a poor review. I appreciate a good quality essential oil for a good value, but I am not going to use something I cannot trust. I trust this. I think there are higher qualities out there, but this is a nice grade oil.Ginger oil should be in color pale yellow to deep amber and thin to mildly viscous in consistency. Dropped on paper mine was more on the clear side with a hint of yellow and more on the thick side of consistency. It DID dry clear which leads me to believe this is pretty close to being a true essential oil. This smells exactly like ginger oil should and when compared to other brands I have, it smells on point. In the dark glass amber bottle and in a dark cabinet, this oil has remained intact. It is not rancid and so I can vouch for its longevity. I also like how the back of the bottle gives you some quick, yet informative information about the oil and its uses.

Good mid quality brand
I use these oils to scent soy candles so I don’t need the highest quality, but I do need consistency. This oils is very pungent and a very small amount goes a long way. I find it tempers peppermint well without losing any of the Christmasy feeling peppermint evokes.

Horrible odor!
Not happy with this at all. I bought it to mix it with other oils and it completely overpowered the other oils scents. It has a very unpleasant and pungent odor! To the point that it made me nauseous. This oil does not smell like ginger at all. It smells like a combination of nasty feet, humidity and trash. It is also very hard to get the dropper to work. I have a very large collection of oils and I can say without a doubt that this is the worst smelling oil I have. I will not use this ever again. Also, I went to the Whole Foods to smell and try the same oils but from different brands. The Whole Foods by my home carries NOW (this brand), 365 and Whole Foods (their own brands), Aura Cacia, Badger and Jasón. Not surprisingly, NOW was the one with the worst smelling oils of the brands they had. With the exception of geranium and lemongrass, all other oils from NOW smell much mustier and worse than the other brands. Not buying this brand again.
