    needs editor
    Before I say anything about the content: this book is “independently” published (self-published), which is probably the reason why it reads a bit… weird. There are typos, grammatical errors, and confusing constructions of sentences, which I presume is due to the fact that no editor ever saw this book before it was offered here on the site. Maybe an editor would have also advised against constantly calling the reader “brother” – as a “sister” I find this a bit jarring. I overlooked the fact that it’s self-published, otherwise I probably wouldn’t have ordered it in the first place – it seems… a bit risky? to take mental health advice from a random person who hasn’t been checked out by a publishing house and wasn’t even able to get an editor to look at their work, but that’s just my opinion.I own the book now, so I decided I might as well give it a shot. So far I’m about halfway through and it’s a bit “meh”. If you’ve ever googled “overcoming negative thoughts” or something of that sort before, you’ve probably already found most of the ideas that are presented in this book yourself. That’s not to say that some of the advice isn’t useful at all, but “when you have a negative thought, just hum until it goes away” might not be the most mind-blowing thing anyone has ever suggested (still works, though). I wouldn’t call this a “workbook”, either, as it lacks the amount of practical exercises I would expect in a “workbook”. In fifty pages, there’s one page where you’re asked to write in some notes. Overall, I don’t think this book is horrible and I’m sure it can be helpful to some people – just know what to expect. And maybe buy it used, because it’s not worth the price you pay for it new.
