Stationary, No Hardware, Visually Pleasing Lightweight Wood, Well Constructed
We are about to remove a bunch of elements from an old, over-the-garage room in my even older split-level brick ranch house. The floor tiles are coming up, the wall has water damage, and that water damage from a window unit dripped down and rotted the old wooden register. Gross.So, we got this exact match to replace the rotted, broken one. It’s lighter than the one we got from a local orange Big Box home store. This doesn’t come with any nails or screws, which wasn’t a dealbreaker, we just had to go sniff some out in the garage. This also doesn’t use any hardware or a switch to manually close the vent or re-open it. It’s a basic, wooden vent cover.Keeping that in mind, installation was a breeze for my teenage son (it was rougher to crow/pry bar the old vent out of its spot as the old nails has corroded. I love water damage). He wasn’t doing a permanent install though; we just wanted to make sure it met our needs as we’re about to gut the entire section of the wall anyway.I did have one “test’ – on the last vent cover, the wooden slats felt somewhat “flimsy” to the touch and when you wiggled them within their slots, there was a scary amount of “give.” So, I tried to fiddle with the construction and I’m happy to say all components fit together nicely and accurately.Only “gripe” is the color of the wood is a touch lighter than the baseboards in my house, but the baseboards are a bit of a darker orangey “70s wood trim” color, so I imagine that THIS vent cover matches more contemporary interiors better. If anything, that only prompts me to pry up the old baseboard and get rid of it, too!Fits our needs, very happy with the vent cover.

Stain stayed tacky for longer than a day
Good product, but we noticed the stain stayed tacky longer than normal and wasn’t a 100% match to our molding, it wasn’t noticeable though to others, just us

Great idea, functional looks good
This is very unique! I live in an older house with light wood floors, and it looks great! It allows for two installation angles, which I had not realized when I ordered it. I used the more upright angle (as shown in the item posting) allowing the heat to go directly into the room instead of up into the room. Typically I would need to use a plastic directional vent cover so the heat doesn’t go right up my curtains. The plastic vent covers do not look very nice. This replaces the metal grate and the plastic vent cover which is most definatley a plus. It is very sturdy (not made of balsa wood or other light weight wood). It can be painted or clear coated; with wood floors, I will clear coat it. You would think it would visibly stick out, but it actually blends in much more so than the metal grates no matter what color the grates are painted. Since it is unsealed wood I recommend sealing it with paint or varnish.

Looks great and built well.
I have a handful of registers in the house that are not-ideally-placed, with a couple of them ending up under furniture. I put this one in our downstairs hallway where having the air blow towards the house instead of heating up a random space made more sense. It’s slightly longer than the register it sits on (not that it really matters here) but covers it completely width-wise. The finish is nice and looks good next to our oak flooring.There’s not much more to say since this isn’t a terribly complicated piece of engineering, but I do have questions about the interior spring-loaded air direction flap which appears to have a plastic stopper tab. The tab doesn’t quite fit over the lip of the flap so I can’t quite control the airflow, but it’s not a big deal.Overall, this is a pretty good way to make your metal registers look less menacing or to redirect air that’s blowing up into your buffet.
