Chinese dragons are seen as lucky and good — quite different to the evil, dangerous, fire-breathing dragons of most Western stories.
Chinese dragons are powerful and benevolent symbols in Chinese culture, with supposed control over watery phenomenon, e.g. summoning rain during a drought. Dragons are everywhere in China — in legends, festivals, astrology, art, names, and idioms.
It was a gracious creature that able to do almost everything, flying into the sky and live in the deep ocean or lake. For ancient Chinese people, dragon is an ideal animal that was worshiped as the ruler of river, lake and sea, bringing rain and water to the earth. He is friendly and wise and honored in the temple being built. Lung gradually adopted the meaning of power and boldness, intelligent and ambitious, heroism and nobility, and then referred to the authority and power of imperial house.

A GREAT pen, gorgeous and very high quality at moderate price!
I was so impressed by the “Jinhao Gray Dragon Playing Pearl”fountain pen that–when I posted a review of the fountain pen version of this “dragon” pen–I said I intended to also purchase this rollerball so I would have a matched set. I did, and I am again not disappointed with the look, feel, and function of the pen. And I have a really GREAT looking, excellent performing desktop set of pens that cost a fraction of comparable sets.Granted, the rollerball function depends on the refill used, unlike the quality of a fountain pen’s nib and ink-flow mechanics, so there’s not a lot to say about that aspect. I personally recommend Jinhao refills (0.5mm & 0.7mm), I have never been disappointed in either the smoothness of writing (the roller ball) or in the flow of ink. I’ve never had the ink blob or smear, yet doesn’t dry out if the cap is left off while working. This pen uses the “screw type” refill–both Jinhao and Montblanc versions will work. There may be other good brands offering the screw-type version but I’m not familiar with them.Like the fountain version, this one is crafted with extremely high quality as well as writing “functionality” for a very modest price, at least as well as pens costing a LOT more. I’m a big fan of Jinhao, especially their “dragon-themed” lines. Again, with this one, I love the “feel” of it in hand: the heavy, ornate grey dragon on a black background sculpted around the entire length of the full-size barrel gives it a weight that adds to its overall feeling of richness and craftsmanship. The theme of “Dragon Playing With Pearl” is elaborated with an emerald-colored “pearl” clutched in the dragon’s claw atop the lacquer-black cap, matched by the black end-cap. The whole pen is accented by gold fittings. Instead of coming off as gauche and over-decorated, the overall look comes together like a beautiful, traditional Chinese dragon sculpture with style and function married elegantly. A great feature of both pen versions is the cap can be screwed onto the base while in use–it actually helps keep the pen balanced in hand while writing. This is an extremely nice rollerball pen that performs on par with and better than many that are much more expensive–it looks and feels like it should cost much, much more. Its performance is equalled by its beauty. I highly recommend it to others who love great pens, and it is a great buy for the price. These pens are offered as matched sets–fountain and rollerball pens–but can be purchased separately. I bought the fountain pen and now the rollerball so I’d have a great set.

Excellent choice!
This pen was purchased for my grandsonâs memorial service. His favorite color was red and this was the perfect choice, bright red with the grayish black and the silver looking jewelry. Itâs a beautiful pen and it writes easily. Itâs heavier than most pens but that was not a problem for anyone. It will now rest in his memory box until his son grows up and decides whether he wants to use it or not.

Beautiful pen
This pen is beautiful. The detail is great. Very well made. Its very easy to replace the cartridge. It does have some weight to it, but its not too heavy. I will definitely be purchasing the other colors.

Jinhao Dragon Rollerball Pen
This is a nice-looking pen with a price to match. It matches a fountain pen I already have. The rollerball is as smooth as silk. Great pen.

Beyond expectations
Bought it as a gift, was expecting a plasticky exterior covering a cheap generic pen.Was very pleasantly surprised, pen feels metalic, solid and durable outside. The actual pen parts writes smoothly and without issues you see in cheap ballpoint pens (uneven ink distribution, ball getting stuck, ext).Great gift, great pen.PS. Only thing to be aware of is that it’s quite heavy, but not so much that it would interfere with writing.

This eye-catching pen is quite heavyweight, but well-balanced so that you can write with it for long periods without becoming weary and dropping it. The ink is fairly dense and black but I’d call the ball end ‘fine’. I should probably have checked that the pen had a pocket clip, because it really needs one.

This is a very good rollerball pen that seems a pirate rollerball pen. It’s heavy and very good constructed. Write like the angels. I love it and now belong to my Jinhao collection fountains and rollerball pens. It’s a little expensive but I am not regret about my purchase. Highly recommend item.
