Perfect for Mini Candle Lantern
First: Yes, they are really very expensive for candles. These fit into UCO (or similar) breakdown candle lanterns. The lanterns usually come with paraffin candles, which are great and last a long time. These replacement candles are made from beeswax, however. They do last considerably longer than the paraffin versions. What I really like about them, however, is that they give off a really pleasing, mild scent as they burn. I use these when I’m illuminating the inside of my tent or cabin rather than the other ones. I also appreciate that they are a natural resource. The quality is high, and they burn very evenly and as long as advertised. My experience is that the wicks on these have been self-trimming and have never broken off between uses. These seem to have held up well in the hot environments of the desert, my enclosed gear box, and the interior of my truck, never melting to the point of being misshapen. But the cost, you say? Well, yeah. For me, it’s a value proposition: I enjoy and prefer the gentle glow of candlelight when I’m camping or backpacking, over the bright light and hiss of my white-gas-driven light whenever I can help it. They do last a good, long while, too, and I figure that the per-hour cost of these set me back a little over a quarter. That, and the fact that they cost only a little more than the paraffin version for an emergency/camping light that will never run out of batteries or suffer a broken mantle make them well worth it for me. That, and the fact that there is nothing that smells quite like a burning beeswax candle. Besides, I go through these so slowly that I don’t have to buy them that often.Five stars for a high quality, well-made product that lasts.

Smell amazing. Actually real beeswax
These things smell amazing. This coming from a guy who will leave a house if they have glade plug ins or not hug someone who uses strongly scented laundry soap. I hate artificial smells. These smell natural and pleasant. They do not claim to be nor are they decorative. I very glad I bought these first though so I could learn how real beeswax smells and feels. I tried to get some beeswax votives from a different seller and had to send them back because the votives turned out to be expensive yellow tinted paraffin. If I can’t get a different shape from this same maker, I’ll buy these exact ones again.

UCO beeswax candles are a quality product!
UCO beeswax candles have some slight variance between the placement of wick centers. Wick placement is essential to getting the longest burn time from a candle. The UCO candle lanterns have a slight tilt to them. This might affect how the candles burn and could explain why their candles work better than any secondary market substitutes. The candles smell like Bit-O-Honey candies. The beeswax candles are slightly larger and made here in the United States with beeswax sourced from Texas beekeepers. Their standard candles are made in Thailand. As you can see from the pictures, the difference in quality is obvious. Besides the size difference and the pre-drilled well found on the beeswax candles, the method of wick placement is different. You can see there is a small gap between the wick and the wax in the candles made of beeswax. The beeswax candles are likely drilled, the wick threaded through, and the bottom heated in order to get the metal tab to stick to the bottom. This is why the beeswax candles always stand flat and you do not have to deal with lopsided candles. This is a clear case of quality over quantity. In short, pay the money and get the better beeswax candles.UPDATE 03/17/2021 : These candles are amazing and just got me through two blizzards here in Texas. I have also used them during hurricanes in Louisiana.I bought two more cases and noticed that my older candles are now more pale in color than they were when originally purchased. I have included a new picture, with the older candle shown on the right. This bloom is an indication that these candles are a high quality beeswax product. The scent is still lightly present, but not nearly as strong as the new ones. These older candles still function perfectly.I recommend these now more than ever in light of the severe weather events expected this year.

Great clean burning
They burn clean and has no smell really. Only thing I see wrong is the burn time. I havenât been able to get 12 hours. But usually get about 10-10 1/2 out of them.

Used one candle for an entire 12 day adventure
Definitely not worth it burning the candle at both ends. Used each night in the screen house along with the UCO candle lantern, for varying times each night while winding down after a long day playing a few rounds of cards. We ordered a three pack with the intention to burn them down during the adventures of glamping out in the not so wild. The candles burned leaving behind a semi sweet aroma in their wake. Highly recommend having the set saving battery time and for emergency preps. I had one of the lanterns when they first came out, but unfortunately a family member thought it best if they took it for their personal use without permission… was and still is a great alternative to an oil burning hurricane lantern and the batteries in the flashlight wasted.
