Write that sh*t down!

Keep anxiety and depression in check with tons of totally doable mental health tips and techniques included here. You’ll find some silly things, some serious things, some resources and exercises—oh, and a whole page of STICKERS to use throughout your journal.

The author HATES journaling. This is the journal she wishes she had had when first starting out in therapy.

From the creator of Just Peachy Comics, this interactive self-care book uses journaling, drawing, and goal-tracking to help improve the user’s overall mental health and well-being. The journal will introduce you to a variety of therapy practices such as CBT (Cognitive behavioral therapy) and EMDR. It will also illustrate the author’s “dot method” of goal tracking to help reduce anxiety.

These inviting pages include checklists, doodle boxes, gratitude prompts, goal pages, supportive characters, encouragement, resources on how to get through anxiety attacks, and more. This is a journal for anyone feeling down, looking for some extra support, or just trying to stay positive and practice daily self-care.

If you are feeling anxious . . .

breathsbreaths

Deep breaths are the anxiety killer.

Panic attacks are caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, which releases a lot of adrenaline, overwhelming your system and causing a panic attack. Basically, your body thinks it is suffocating, so it freaks out. This can be solved by taking deep, calming breaths. Breathe in for 8 seconds, hold for 6, and breathe out for 8 again. Repeat for as long as you need to avoid a panic attack. You can also breathe into a pillow or paper bag to help slow down your breaths.

walkingwalking

Go for a walk.

When you are feeling anxious, your body jumps to the “fight or flight” mode. Since it’s probably not worth it to suplex your coworker to release anxiety, try going for a brisk walk instead. Your brain just really wants to burn off some of that nervous energy, and you can do that with some light exercise. If you can’t leave the situation you are in, try doing calf raises or shaking your legs a bit.

musicmusic

Listen to calming music.

I always forget that music can completely change my mood. It’s good to have a playlist of songs ready for when you are feeling stressed. I personally have a calming playlist full of piano and video game music for such occasions.

caffeinecaffeine

Avoid caffeine and other stimulants.

Too much caffeine can make your anxiety waaay worse. This also goes for nicotine. Try to limit yourself to no more than two cups of joe a day, and consider quitting nicotine altogether if you have bad anxiety.

    So very useful!
I bought this for my angsty pre-teen and now want one for myself. The prompts are simple and allow you to expand on them and the list of resources was really helpful. Though not all aspects of the book apply for her it does seem to be helping her work through her trauma and open up more not just on paper but in her interactions with us and her therapists.

    Wonderful in Every Way
I love this journal! I got it as a gift and I want to keep it for myself. The pages are well written, extremely insightful, and visually pleasing. I love that it’s wire bound so it’s easy to access and write in. Includes stickers, mindfulness exercises, guided prompts, advice for strong emotions, and much more. Love it:)

Me habría gustado que tuviese varias páginas completas en blanco para anotaciones adicionales.
Lo he adquirido para iniciarme en el journaling cuando no se sabe por dónde empezar😊.

This is so cool and helpful!
If you struggle with writing out your feelings or just need some really important starter coping mechanisms this book is workbook is perfect for. The little illustrations are so beyond cute and funny and none of it feels corny or unrelatable. Really cool and open ended prompts to help you really get the most out of journaling and the skills you learn will help you in journaling long after you’ve filled out all the pages. I bought this for my partner and this has really helped and even adds some humor.

    Nicely written
I bought this as a gift for a family member who has had some struggles with things in their life. When I got it, I paged through it & realized that it would be a perfect fit for this person. It does have a little “rough” language in it, so if you’re offended by it, don’t buy it. The person I bought it for won’t even notice, though they were surprised I bought it & still decided to pass it onto them. I figured if it helped, it would be worth it. It’s a guided journal, with prompts to help you along the way. Knowing this person, I figured they would use a spiral notebook & writ in it, instead of in the journal, as they write more than the average person. There’s a few pages of websites & resources for more help, if needed.

    Beautiful, ACT consistent journal
This is a wonderful journal, with practical, evidence-based interventions. It’s great especially for someone who might prefer to draw things in their day instead of journaling paragraphs. It is heavily influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is my favorite. The drawings are beautiful.

    Lot of cussing
As a therapist, I was looking forward to adding this book to my library. I have often suggested journaling for my clients but I was disappointed at the vulgar language throughout the book. I would have never purchased it if I had known that.

Although I bought it mostly for the Journaling aspects I really like the mindfulness exercises inside.
