    Insightful guided journal structure, okay production quality
    I expected this to be a fairly vanilla, nice-looking journal with some loose journaling prompts and lots of blank pages. What it actually is, if you use it as designed, is a thoughtfully curated guide to making a three-month daily commitment to self-reflection.This journal’s value is very much more in the contents than in the physical quality. Don’t get me wrong — the production quality is fine. The journal design has polished touches but ultimately feels sturdy and usable, like a functional tool rather than a luxury item. (The matte cover texture makes me think of hardcover novels that feel unfinished if you remove the dust cover.) The prettiest part is the paper bookmark, which was (silly as it may sound) part of what made me choose this journal over other options.The contents, like I said, are where this journal really shines. There’s a huge amount to do and to think about in this journal, way beyond prompts and cute formatting. Each week has a theme, and every section supports different goals. I’m glad there’s a table of contents, as there are quite a lot of sections to navigate.This journal does demand attention to detail if used as intended, so don’t expect to sit down, open it up, and start throwing thoughts on the pages immediately. If you follow the directions, they hold your hand through three months of daily and weekly check-ins. Not to scare anyone off, but it’s a bit like homework, except that instead of getting a grade at the end, you get to be a happier person. Another way to use this (if you aren’t ready to devote yourself to three months of exercises) would be to read through it like a self-help book and choose small sections or exercises as inspiration for writing in a blank journal at your own pace.If you just want something to write in, with loose prompts to use as a starting point, this is not really ideal for that. You can use it that way, but a lot of page space is devoted to other things, so it’s not the best value if you want to stay close to the practice of traditional unguided journaling.A small thing I wish were different: The yellow used for many design elements makes the journal hard to read/use in lower light conditions, as the yellow blends into the off-white paper. It would also have been nice if the journal had colors printed on the edges of the pages to mark each section, but that’s not a real con.Ultimately, this journal can be a standalone three-month journey or the beginning of a completely different practice of journaling, and it is way more than what it seems like in the product listing. It might be too much for some people, realistically. On the other hand, it might be a perfect fit for a person ready to do some deep self-reflective work and who wants a thoughtful framework to do it in.

    I love this book, it’s well made and solid. The only thing I would like to see in the future are the sections a bit more fluid. You kind of have to keep going back to sections for daily-weekly/reflections etc. I wish she had done week one in its entirety, then gone into week two , and so on. Just not having to flip back each time.
