    Simple yet powerful
Just get it. I got it for my 11.5 year old and it’s fantastic. It takes a minute or two which is perfect for actually getting him to do it most days. I don’t want a journal that’s one more homework assignment. My son didn’t care if I read it, it could be private for your kiddo- and it would be worth it. Easy prompts, quick quotes, instant gratitude. But for me, it’s been nice getting access to it! We don’t talk about it, or make a big deal about it, but getting tiny glimpses into his thoughts is priceless. I just read about something he was thankful for that I assumed had no impact- but that’s teens/preteens- they aren’t always open and communicative.

    AMAZING!!
We have done a few different journals over the years and this one is one of the best! The prompts are all different but center around being grateful. There are stop and reflect prompts every so often with challenges that helps guide you to putting the skills you observe and learn about yourself to the test. This is perfect for a teenage boy. Helps them work through their teenage angst and realize the big world around them so they can appreciate everything they have.

A Masterful Gratitude Guide to an Overlooked Community (in this regard)
A book of this nature, written the way the author has done so, delivers a structured, compassionate, and empathetic forum for teenage boys to be self- and other-aware, but more importantly, to have a framework to tackle what life throws at you in a deep and meaningful way. Centering one’s self in gratitude doesn’t mean the curve balls don’t come, but that when they do, the practice helps one deal with it in surprisingly different ways. I particularly like that it supports creating a mindset not readily taught elsewhere, and allows the audience to be vulnerable – and in so doing discovering a different kind of strength.By the way, I’m not a teenager, nor a boy, and I’ve found it tremendously helpful.Such a great approach for an under-served audience.

    Simple and effective
This journal is a great way to open up simple conversation with your child. My son wasn’t excited about this new task at first but I asked him to give it a chance. After a week he started to show interest in sharing his thoughts on the different prompts within the journal. Almost done with it and I’m looking for another one to keep it going

A “pause and reflect” book for rapid moving times for teens
An incredibly invaluable book for times in which information and images (a lot skewed) are blasting at our kids at rapid rates. Why is it invaluable? It’s hard being a teen. It’s hard thinking you must be measured by this person’s opinion, or that celebrity’s wardrobe. It’s hard getting advice and thoughts from your parents and friends and teachers and celebrities. Who are they supposed to listen to? Life can be confusing when so much information is barreling toward you and there is seemingly no time for pause and reflection.Lauren Zalewski’s book is just the right type of natural antidote for today’s pressure, for today’s runaway train our kids sometimes feel they are on. The 5-minute daily gratitude journal Lauren proposes here, gets the kids to think for themselves, to evaluate their world on their terms. And when kids can do that, when they can be honest with themselves, it can jolt them with unprecedented confidence. Here is what I like about this book. It’s easy. That’s a compliment. Teens don’t want to read or work with a book that is 300 pages long with small type. There is plenty of space to right in, to put notes in the corners, to get one’s thoughts down properly. Lauren also nudges the teen – which is important for the more reticent kid. She does a lot of the work by presenting questions and thoughts to assist the teen in evaluating his or her day. There is no starting with a blank page here. As a person who likes to write, a blank page can be very intimidating. Lauren fills in the blank pages in to save the child time. Cutting right to the good stuff. Getting them in short order to present their feelings and take stock of their day with small steps that build up their confidence day by day by day.Lauren helps the teen to be proud of their successes. Helping them look at the times they were generous to others and themselves, reminding them that they have always had these good qualities. This is extremely important for kids, who’s minds are moving fast, and who might always be looking at their short-comings. They need to be reminded of all their good qualities and memories, not just the bad memories or what they did wrong. So, so important!I love this book. I have always championed getting your thoughts down on paper, and this guide is easy, practical, introspective, fun, informative (Lauren has a slew of quotes from prominent people who have had their own struggles) and most importantly – it’s successful. You cannot lose when writing for 5 minutes about your day – every day; and Lauren here, supplies every tool your teen needs to guide them toward that confidence and success.I highly recommend this book.

    Looks promising but recieved used.
I purchased this for a gift. Unfortunately, the book I received was previously used and included visible eraseer marks and evidence of the previous owner’s writings. The book looks really promising and could have been useful.I am unable to return it because there isn’t an Amazon dropoff location accessible for me.

Très bonne idée pour encourager les ados à rester positifs et voir le positif de la vie. Il faut par contre vraiment insister pour qu’ils le remplissent chaque jour.
