Buy this book for every girl you know!
My daughter and I loved Ms. Whitehead’s Self-Love Journal for Teen Girls, so when I came across this new book, I ordered it even though it is advertised as a journal for girls 8-12. This book really applies to all of us girls, even 19 and 54 year olds! I highly recommend this book for all of the girls in your life, no matter what their age!

    A Joy Of A Ride!
I was provided with an advance copy of Girl Power: A Journal, by the publisher.I have been sitting with this powerful little book for over a month now. During that time I have wondered how things might have been different for me as a young girl, had I experienced the support and teaching this journal offers? The book gives the reader/writer a chance to explore her uniqueness and her strengths..it also allows her to be honest about her feelings. On almost every page is a short paragraph that teaches life skills in a clear and thoughtful way – a blueprint for becoming a compassionate and moral human being. At the core of this, is that a girl’s real power comes when she believes in herself and that her real beauty and strength come from self awareness, self love and acting with the convictions of her beliefs. I remember how insecurity and depression were a huge part of my life as a young person and if you have no way of addressing these issues in youth, they manifest and follow you into adulthood. Confidence can be instilled and I believe that as a girl works through these pages, she will be empowered.Gifting Girl Power: A Journal to a young girl, is a real investment in the emotional growth and well being of someone you care for and for the girl who receives it, a fun read and a creative journey worth taking.

    Build Inner Confidence!
Professional skateboarder, sports’ stylist, and activist, Cindy Whitehead is on a mission to teach girls how to shine as they are and create a wider network of opportunity dignity kindness and equality.Girls today face a constant barrage of curated images and unhealthy messages about who they’re supposed to be, how they’re supposed to look and act, especially on social media. In the face of such pressure, how can anyone become happy and accomplish her dreams?By developing a healthy relationship with herself early in life. Cindy Whitehead’s wisdom for building inner confidence to help girls achieve their dreams was born from her experiences growing up as a young female skateboarder in a male dominated sport.Girl Power, a Journal offers young readers a playful format to explore confidence-building exercises and encouragement such as learning healthy self-talk, loving the skin you’re in, hearing your voice, practicing self-reflection, developing kindness, and standing up for yourself, to name a few.In addition to journaling, positive affirmations, and a few easy meditations to explore, readers will also learn about awesome girls throughout history. This journal of prompts and affirmation exercises was created for girls ages 8 to 12… and I wish I had benefited from it at that age ….BUT I think these exercises could benefit every woman I know!!

Life advice from someone who practices what they preach!
I was given an advance copy of this book by the publisher.I am a talent agent in Los Angeles and have known of Cindy Whitehead for 30+ years. What everyone always says is that she “makes things happen” and that she’s a champion of young girls! What I personally responded to in this book is all of the ways that Cindy allows the reader to express themself and recognize/celebrate their individuality. In a world where things have become so chaotic and confusing, I think this a fantastic way for a girl to sort out her thoughts and feelings.Much thought has been put into coming up with scenarios that challenge and encourage young girls to think about and process their feelings. As I don’t have any young daughters, I passed this book on to a friend’s 9 year old daughter and asked the parents to let me know how/if she’s responding to it. What they’ve relayed back to me is that it has her engaged and has also been the catalyst for some important dinnertime conversations.Go Cindy!

Bringing awareness of thoughts to tweens
My daughter recently asked me why anxiety isn’t talked about more in a way that teaches how thoughts create feelings. When kids (and adults!) learn how their thought patterns affect their feelings (both positively and negatively), they start to become more aware of these thoughts, and in turn how these thoughts create certain feelings. GIRL POWER is a great tool for tweens to help them slow down and process what thoughts are going through their heads. The more we are able to pause and recognize the thoughts we are having, the easier it becomes to manage our emotions. The act of writing in a journal also provides a great opportunity for girls to reflect on all the strengths that they DO have; something that is often ignored or forgotten during adolescence. This journal has great prompts for the reader along with inspirational quotes, all of which promote self awareness and building confidence. Many thanks to Cindy for addressing this need for the next generation!I was provided with an advance copy by the publisher.
