Practical advice to help yourself but also for your partner to support you
I’m going to speak for my husband here as I got the book for him…one of the toughest things to deal with around mental health is the thinking that you are alone. That you are the only person in the world that is feeling these feelings and thinking these thoughts. And as his partner, as someone that can’t exactly relate, it’s painfully difficult to help. It’s easy for me to try to quiet him or maybe diminish his feelings because they “can’t be that bad”. I know that sounds awful, and I love him so much, but the fact that I don’t know how to help is why I sometimes think that. I am writing this because I’m just being 100% honest. And I hate that about me. I want to help him and I feel helpless. I got this book because I can’t push him to therapy. He’s done it and he has resources but if you are going through this, you know how hard it is to even get up sometimes, much less focus on exercises. What I love about this book is that it’s easy to read and follow. But even more importantly it’s a book I can use to try to help him. In my hands I have some techniques I can walk and guide him through. I am not a therapist of course (or my statements above would make me the worst therapist in the world) but I can take these learnings to at least give him the support he needs. Things like grounding, for example. When he begins to spiral, I can use what I’ve learned in the book to try to get him grounded. And while the book has sections to write in, I know he won’t do that. So I can take those and just talk through them with him.If nothing else, I believe that this book is a wonderful resource not only for someone struggling with mental health, but also for the people around them who feel helpless and want to do something actionable to help.

Mental Health Workbook for Men
Book is full of very good information and I thought it would be a great way for my husband to help himself improve on things that he said he wanted to do for himself and they familyAgain it is a really nice book and thankfully we have it but husband isn’t ready, as you can’t rush addicts with mental health issues. But whenever he is ready it’ll be here for him

Extremely helpful and eye opening
I enjoyed the writing style. Felt very personal, almost as if David was talking to me. I was really able to resonate with the stories and examples he provided throughout the book. But what was really life changing is practicing and dedicating yourself to the exercises.

Nice workbook to get started with thinking about your feelings
These last few years have been stressful for most of the people on earth – and that doesnât exclude men. In 2023, it shouldnât be taboo for anyone (man or woman) to think about and take action about their mental health. So, from that point of view, ANYTHING that helps a whole segment of the population think more about their mental health and work through difficult times is to be applauded. That said, this book does a particularly nice job of it. While I havenât gotten through the whole book yet, it is well-written and contains a number of exercises (itâs a workbook after all and meant to be written in and worked through in the book) and thought-provoking passages that get you to really examine your psyche and whatâs going on BEHIND your surface level thoughts. Thatâs how you get to real change and really understanding whatâs bugging you (hint, itâs likely not that simple task you havenât completed in ages or the leaky faucet you never get around to fixing). Once you get to the heart of the matter, you can much better address it.So, what you get here is a well-written (and well printed/bound, though itâs a softcover workbook, so thatâs not SUPER relevant, but itâs a nice plus) and nicely thought-through book that guides you through examining yourself and your mental state – and starting to do something about it – in the privacy and judgement free zone of your own home. And if that gets you to take action, thatâs wonderful. I can highly recommend the book!

Great guide for modern men
This workbook is excellent, approaching the topic of modern masculinity with sense and through a gender-critical lens.It gives men an opportunity to dig into their unconscious motivations and learned responses to situations, and asks them how they can improve themselves, for themselves, to find a way to redefine masculinity and exist as fully self-possessed individuals participating in a positive way in modern society. As a man myself, I recommend this book.

Well thought out book that can be reused over again as needed
Well designed workbook. Helps the individual be aware of themselves, their feelings and emotions, their behaviors, and attitudes. Then it provides ideas exercises on stress reduction and mindfulness. There is also a section on building the proper people around you and how they can help you make your personal/emotional goals successful. There are tons of pages in each section of the workbook where you can take your own notes to reflect on over and over as needed. Even though the book is specific for men, there is much within it that anyone could benefit from.
