Great size, great coconut oil
I love Coconuts. I love coconut oil even more. Nutiva is a great brand for coconut oil. I really like this size container. I use the 54 oz. tub in the kitchen, and this one for topical usage.PEOPLE (who don’t use coconut oil) STOP USING VEGETABLE OIL. If you are willing to skip junk food twice out of the week, then you can spend the money you save to buy coconut oil- it smells amazing, it cooks amazing, it’s delicious, snow white, and is great for chapped lips.We can all help to put an end to this ridiculous myth of saturated fat being bad and unsaturated fat being good. The myths about fat making you fat and other diet-related myths perpetuate the 60-year old lie that high cholesterol/high fat is bad. Eat fat! It’s delicious, nutritious, and won’t harm your brain the way many vegetable oils/some seed oils do.(Unless it’s fat from animals that have been eating things outside of their nature-intended diet… cows eating corn for example…then the fat is filled with toxins and are no good.)Eat coconut oil and you won’t have to worry about any of that. (What, did you think that you can eat all the omega-6 you want? Do you like inflammation and other nasty long-term side effects from having an imbalance of Omega-6/omega-3? Trust me, it’s worth a google.)Here was my original review of Nutiva Coconut oil in the larger size:I had high expectations when ordering Nutiva Coconut Oil because I had recently discovered that America has been lied to about unsaturated fats and saturated fats for years, and that if I want to lose weight, then I should stick to what my taste buds naturally love- Saturated fat!Nutiva Coconut Oil has gone above and beyond meeting my expectations. I am blown away!It satisfied what I expected:1. The smell is pleasant and sweet, bold and aromatic.2. The taste is full-bodied and rich.3. Snow White in color, smooth and creamy texture. I could definitely see myself using a pat of this on my toast instead of butter.4. After cooking it, the aroma of coconut fills the room.5. The high heat tolerance of coconut oil is wonderful. It cooked my steak and burger perfectly. No longer will I deal with the olive oil smoking on the pan which indicates trans fat having been created. (although olive oil is good for you, it’s still partly unsaturated so it really shouldn’t be heated to a high temperature like during cooking. It’s better than poly-unsaturated, but saturated will always be better than unsaturated fats- mono or poly.)Going BEYOND my expectations:A. Out of curiosity last night, I dabbed some coconut oil on my chapped lips as soon as I opened the jar and laid eyes on the lovely white butter in front of me. This morning, as I’m writing this review, I lick my lips and feel that my lips are now smooth, soft, and not chapped at all! I am so amazed! That has never happened; it’s like magic!B. I just read that coconut oil may help to prevent and treat dementia and Alzheimer’s. I am going to tell my parents immediately! If I could give ten stars, I would!

Best Tasting Coconut Oil I’ve Tried: Quality is A+
Nutiva’s Organic coconut oil is the best I’ve found. I’ve tried several brands, but nothing tastes as clean and pure as this. There is a definite undertone of coconut, but I like the flavor, even when frying eggs or eating it on cinnamon raisin toast. I recently had bloodwork done and my HDL (the good cholesterol) was an impressive 77—anything over 39 is considered in range; over 50 is heart protective). I attribute this great HDL number to using only coconut oil, butter, and olive oil in my cooking & drinking green tea.Amazon’s Subscribe & Save offer is a great deal; I really like the 2 pack of these smaller (15 oz) jars. We’re a small household and I like keeping one jar sealed while using the other. Keep in mind that coconut oil is different than other oils–it is solid at temperatures under 76, so it will look something like shortening in the wintertime. Still tastes great and is wonderful to use in all kinds of cooking. One more important detail: this is an organic, COLD PRESSED coconut oil. Others may be organically grown, but I’ve found some brands are hydrogenated to make them solid at room temperature (I won’t go into all the reasons this is not a “good thing”). Suffice it to say that any coconut oil you buy should be cold pressed (and that goes for your olive oil, as well). Google to find out why…Happy eating!UPDATE 3/19/13: Updated the temperature threshold for melting point: it’s actually 76 degrees, according to the Nutiva label (not 72 degrees as I previously guesstimated).UPDATE 1/17/14: Something fun: I like Cinnamon Toast (just coconut oil and cinnamon on top of a piece of raisin bread, broiled under the broiler. No sugar.). I’ve been eating it for YEARS & about a month ago, I asked myself why I was making such a mess by sprinkling the cinnamon ON TOP of the coconut oil. Call it a EUREKA Moment. I poured about 1/3 cup of ground cinnamon into a half-used 15 oz. tub of coconut oil and stirred well. Voila–CINNAMON COCONUT OIL (it looks exactly like nutella spread, BTW). It works fantastically well and makes and even more delicious (and neater) cinnamon toast than my other, more primitive method.Hello, Nutiva–you need to market a cinnamon version of your delightful coconut oil! Till they do, try making your own; I think you’re going to love it.

Love, love, love! I’ve been buying Nutiva Organic Virgin Coconut oil for years now. Its a much healthier alternative to any other oil. We use it to cook with as it has a higher heat resistance so doesn’t oxidise like olive oil or other cooking oils do. It makes a great alternative to butter or margarine, the taste is really subtle and doesn’t interfere with other flavours. We also take a spoonful a day as a supplement as it contains the good saturated fats – which are harmless and which give you more energy. My partner also moisturises with it and I’m going to try using it as deep conditioning treatment for my hair as I read it works really well. I’ll update on that once I’ve tried it.There are so many benefits for using coconut oil its worth doing a little bit of your own research to read them all. I highly recommend using the Nutiva brand because its cold pressed, organic and virgin. This tub of coconut oil will last us about 4 months and we use it a lot, every day. Enjoy!

I have been using this product for over two years on my hair and cooking. Since I stated using to add in my deep conditioning for my Afro hair and as a pre-shampoo treatment. My hair now very thick and healthy. Coconut oil penetrate the hair follicle and closes cuticles. I use this particular oil because it is extra virgin or cold pressed. It has not been exposed to extreme heat like other oils on the market. I also use it by adding to Shea butter for body cream. It is divine. Highly recommended.
