Our Company History
In 1928, at the age of twenty-two, Peter Beilenson began printing books on a small press in the basement of his parents’ home in Larchmont, New York.
Peter—and later, his wife, Edna—sought to create fine books that sold at prices even a pauper could afford.
Today, still family owned and operated, Peter Pauper Press continues to honor our founders’ legacy—and our customers’ expectations—of beauty, quality, and value.

Beautiful at a Glance yet Questionable upon Inspection
IF you are looking for a beautiful notebook THEN this is perfect. -This journal is absolutely stunning. The outside has gold details that don’t show up in the picture. The colors are vibrant, the words on the map are readable, and every last detail (trust me, there are a lot of details) is stunning. The inside lining features a lovely red design of, yes, map prints. All the linings of this journal are a regal red color. The side binding are red and the left binding says “journal” in a metallic gold as to match the details in the art. The title page is also lovely, with simple but appropriate font and features a lightly printed small globe in the middle of the page. The pages for writing also include intriguing quotes from various sources every 2-3 pages. Across the top of each page is a light stripy print. The notebook feels perfect in your hands with smooth front and back covers that are raised in certain parts as to add to their beauty. Any time I pull this journal out in a class I receive various compliments from my envious peers.THAT BEING SAID, the quality is questionable. -The pages are thick and smooth, and the magnetic closure feels secure, but other details seem to fall short. I have not had this journal long so I cannot be certain of its shelf life, but I noticed a few things. Upon inspection you may notice a few threads sticking out or lose in the binding. The flap with the magnetic closure makes a sickening cracking and crinkling noise when swung open past about 160 degrees. The edge of that closure also are cracked and bubbled up in some spots after only being opened a handful of times. There is a small crack on the top of the outside binding. The inside lining does not line up perfectly with the edges and a bit of unflattering trim is left for show. This lining is also starting to already peel up. I feel the top margin of the lined pages should be larger. The pages are also somewhat stiff to fold and I, being left handed, find it almost difficult to comfortably write in this journal. The magnetic closure can almost be too secure and when I allowed others to see my journal they had a hard time opening it in fear that they may harm it. This closure also does not line up perfectly with the size of the main cover and is slightly shorter.IN CONCLUSION: If you are looking for an attention grabbing gorgeously piece of art as a journal then this is absolutely perfect for you. If you are looking for a very sturdy high quality journal as to be abused and used for a while to come perhaps you should look elsewhere. Also, if you are left handed like myself this may be uncomfortable or awkward to write in.

Perfect Gift Story
enjoy the journal!my title refers to the Thank you I received saying “OMG thank you so much I love it!!” “It has a quote on like every other page I’m literally reading all of them”.For those wondering, I received the item quickly and packaging was as I expected very good, journal was perfect on arrival.THE OUTSIDELet me just say when I saw this journal I was amazed. As others reviews mentioned the picture does not do it justice. as soon as I opened up the package the book glimmered from the gold outlines throughout the cover. The colors are much brighter and more vivid in the picture. the images are clear, sharp and colorful. That red center band seen in the picture is only on the front of the book. the journal opens from that band it’s a magnetic like covering for the top in order to close the journal. picture one of those tablet cases or something with an overlapping magnetic cover. I liked this mechanism works as expected. ALSO the price tag and book identification sticker is very easily removed (perfect for gifting). The INSIDEthe quotes are located at the top of the page. they are in about every other 2 sheets give or take an extra sheet (every 4-6 pages usually 4). the quotes are nice they all refer to the amazing parts of travel. they are short and sweet. the purpose of the book is to be written in and is lined and we’ll spaced. the pages themselves like the book give an old antique like look but are very tasteful.I bought this book for a 20yr girl that dreams to travel and travels as much as she cans now. Loves adventure and is very selfless. Picky when it comes to items but falls in love with things that have meaning. This gift was one of them. I was thinking of buying that whole map and corkboard with the pins crap but honestly this was a much better choice and for the price I’m very glad I bought this and would recommend you do the same.
An Honest review.. if it seemed helpful feel free to vote it as helpful

Lovely Travel Journal
Beautiful cover, journal is well made, feels very sturdy with a strong magnetic closure. Nice paper with lined pages, some with travel-related sayings. I’m very happy with the purchase and look forward to using it on my upcoming trip.

Wonderful Travel Journal
I bought this a few years ago and filled it all up so just bought a second one. I love the travel quotes in the book and that itâs blank for me to fill in on my own without prompts.

Great for traveling
What do you get the person that has everything, and goes everywhere? A journal! My friends travel a lot and the husband always puts together a video of their travels and has no scribbled here in there while theyâre traveling. So I just thought this empty journal would help him. He loved the idea and came home with it after a six week trip (Who could possibly keep all of that in their head lol?)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!
I am a huge journal fan! I love writing so much and I have like 10 journals. The moment I saw this one on amazon I fell in love with the design. I remember reading on one of the reviews that it was great for left handed people and I must say I completely agree. It lays perfectly flat and causes me no trouble when trying to write. The design I fell in love with in the picture was exactly what I hoped it would look like. And I have to say that the magnetic close on this journal is fantastic. Its nice and strong and closes perfectly shut. I also remember reading about the line spacing being to wide but since my hand writing is pretty big that’s not really a problem for me. I would totally buy another one of these journals once I finish with the one I bought!

Articolo ben fatto, curato e della grandezza giusta, ne troppo grande ne troppo piccolo come un tascabile…la copertina e rigida,le pagine sono resistenti e le righe appena accennate.

I must say, I instantly felt drawn to buying this journal because of the old fashioned look to it and the fact that it reminded me of my nana and grandpa, who are sadly no longer here! My journal arrived today and I am already looking forward to filling it in on all of my trips that I plan on taking. I’m definitely considering buying more of these journals and hope to have a whole collection of them, filling them all in years to come. Would recommend this to anyone, the quotes inside are lovely too. Such a nice touch!
