All oils look very clean. Even though they aren’t meant for consuming you still don’t want a low quality / dirty oil.used the sunflower oil in a candle mixture and it came out perfectly fine. Haven’t used the other two yet other than to take a little out of the bags to feel them to see how they felt compared to other oils that are the same as them that I have. everything seemed fine.The bags are really nice, I’ve had these for a while now and have moved them around my craft area without any leaking. caps seal back up without dripping. Will probably refill them after they are empty just because they are so convenient.

So far, seems good for making soaps
I’m not exactly sure what the difference is between cosmetic grade and food grade, but from a cursory search, it seems that cosmetic grade oil is generally a lower grade of oil vs its food counterpart, and because of that, it’s usually cheaper. I believe it also has to do with the extraction methods, as cosmetic grade oils can be extracted using solvents that should not be ingested, but would be fine for things like soap making. Anyways, I tested the smoke point of the avocado oil and sunflower oil, and I was pretty surprised to find that the avocado oil started smoking WAY below the expected smoke point of 500F as measured by my IR thermometer. It was smoking heavily starting around 300F. So, I’m not sure what to make of that. The sunflower oil smoked more or less at the expected temp. Regardless, I decided to use this for soap making.A friend of ours has a soap making business, and she shows us how to make soap using lye and various oils, fragrances, essential oils, etc… We made a few bars of soap with the sunflower and avocado oil, and they came out well. I’ll update the review as we gear up our soap making for the holidays, but so far, this has worked well.
