    This journal is so powerful!
    I’m so excited to start using The Self-Care Prescription Journal! I already have The Self-Care Prescription and I am rereading it with this awesome companion journal! I was lucky enough to be provided with an advance review copy, then before it was even available for sale, I also ordered a copy to gift to a friend!One of the things that really stands out to me is how much it helps to work on not just my ‘life overall’; but actually thinking about the different parts of my life and what I need in each one. When looking at the “six domains of wellness: social, physical, intellectual, vocational, spiritual, and emotional” it makes so much sense that I need different things and have different goals in each part of my life. Each domain is important and needs to be actively worked on.I feel like The Self-Care Prescription and The Self-Care Prescription Journal are helping me to achieve balance on my self-care journey because they don’t just help me work on one thing in my life; but, rather help me work on all the parts of my life and creating true balance and harmony between them.I’m especially excited to dig into this journal because I think journaling can be so effective and helpful; but, a lot of the time I still struggle to get started. The prompts are so helpful for getting started; but, more than that, they really help me to think deeply about what I’m feeling now, where I want to be, and how I can take action to get there!

    Good book on self-care
    What I liked about this book is that for each section there is a sort section intro and then the rest of the chapter is questions and self-reflection activities. I have just started this book, but I perused the further sections and I feel like most of the questions are relevant. I kind of like to do only a few activities/questions for a day to allow me to think through them. They do have a section to write in for each question, but I don’t like to write in books (harder to write in & this would allow me to pass this book along).Here are the sections:Social Self-Care: The quality of your relationships and playPhysical Self-Care: Nuturition, sleep/rest, movement, and body awarenessIntellectual Self-Care: Mental StimulationVocational Self-Care: Meaningful work and a balance between work and personal lifeSpiritual Self-Care: Broader connections and purposeEmotional Self-Care: Understanding, expressing and coping with emotional and stress.I am not planning on going necessarily in the sections in order and they feel like they are set up to read as stand alones.The reason I gave it 4 stars is I feel the Vocational Self-Care section could have been adjusted for people who are retired or stay-at home parents. This would have been a good book to give to my dad when he retired as he was someone who got a lot of his self-worth from work and he struggled finding his way. This would have been a good book for him to go through. In the beginning section of the section was great about stating that humans need meaning and purpose in life and could have talked about on how to do that whether it is in work or volunteering. For stay-at-home parents who don’t have a 9-5 job, it would be great to explain how vocational self-care would look like them.As I go along in the book and if I have any other thoughts, I will update the review.

    Disappointed
    I ordered this and was looking forward into delving into it. However the first few prompts, while putting responsibility on self, made me feel like I had not done enough to make positive changes and were not applicable. If you want to focus on others first, instead of household, and mold yourself to “show up”for others this book is for you.
