Light scent, doesn’t smell as described
It is a really nice scent, really light but definitely there. The candle has been burned through halfway about now, and I have burned for about 25 hours, which is close-ish to the advertised burn time. The wick lights easily and doesn’t leave a lot of soot. The only gripe I have is it totally does not smell as advertised. Mine smells more vanilla when it is supposed to black pepper, cardamom, and ginger. I enjoy vanilla, but it is not what was anticipated. Additionally, for what the candle is, I do think it is a bit up there in price. Because of that, I personally would not get it again.

Disappointing scent and throw – maybe I got a dud?
I ordered the Yield 8 oz candle in “Hinoki” scent, which is supposed to have dominant notes of Cypress, Char & Vetiver. I love the smell of Hinoki, but rarely see it offered anywhere, so I was really excited for this item to arrive. My obsession with woodsy, smoky, resinous fragrances is completely out of control, as is my candle hoard, which numbers in the triple digits, and this combination should have been an easy home-run. Unfortunately, my first eager whiff was a major disappointment. Where was the Hinoki wood?! For that matter, where was the smoke and the vetiver? Instead of being a dry, green, masculine, terpene-heavy campfire bomb, this mini-tumbler just smelled girly and perfumy to me. I detected very little wood, and no “char” at all! Not only was the scent profile all wrong, it had no cold “throw”, which is not the level of performance one would expect from a lidless 8oz tumbler that sells for $32. I left the jar sitting on the fireplace mantle in my hot, third-floor bedroom for over 2 weeks, and it never emitted any fragrance during that time. As a final test, just before writing this review, I lit the wick, placed the candle next to the bed, and let it burn continuously for 2 hours. It was 97 degrees outside at the time, and I had the window ac running nearby, with a Vortex fan on low a few feet away. The bedroom door was closed and temps near my head were at least in the high 70s. Even a drugstore cheapy could have quickly filled the air with fragrance under these conditions, but after edge-to-edge melt, it took an additional 35 minutes for the Yield candle to do its thing. Hot throw remained weak, and the scent still had an unpleasant powdery note, which didn’t smell like vetiver, smoke, or Hinoki wood. I was really looking forward to receiving this item through Vine, and might even have bought another one at full price if it “…did what it said on the tin”, but I’m sorry to report that my sample was kind of a dud. Maybe it was mislabeled, or part of a rare bad batch, but it’s going into the half bath tomorrow, where it will languish sadly, gathering dust, until the next time I have houseguests 🙁

Love this candle, have purchased multiple times, hinoki fragrance is lovely. Unfortunately this time candle broke durning delivery.

Nice, lighter fragrance.
I do usually like a lighter fragrance, but with a candle I rather kind of do want more throw in my space. It’s not bad, and works well in a restroom or smaller room, but if it’s 10×10 or larger it’s a close proximity candle. That said the fragrance on this is stellar, really lovely. Feels natural, woodsy. Not detecting char, but also not mad at that. If you’re looking for campfire vibes it’s not here. Living on my desk the throw is enough for a short distance light fragrance, and I do love it.Aesthetically the packaging is great, I love the branding and overall look of the candle. Simple/subdued, not offensive or going to take over decor. (I have some wild candles.) Would make a great gift for people with low fragrance tolerances but that do like a bit of woods around.
